Anecdote October 6, 2024 - Outaouais region, Quebec

Anecdote: On October 6th, 2024, at around 12:30, I was driving toward Champlain Lookout on the Gatineau Parkway, soon after it opened.  Up near Belvedere Huron, almost to the top of the mountain I heard a loud tapping sound on the windshield or roof of the car.  The sound was loud and startled me, I was worried that my windshield was cracked.  Luckily, it wasn’t damaged.  The object hit very hard and seemed to have travelled very fast, as if it were thrown.  It seemed small and hard, like a small rock or perhaps an acorn.   The object seemed to have come from the forest on the other side of the road, from a certain height.

 

There were no trees directly above the road, it is paved and I was following behind another car at low speed (40-50 km/h)..  The road was clear and there was no gravel that could have hit my car at such speed.

Anecdote:  Le 6 Octobre, 2024, a environ 12:30, je conduisais vers le Belvédère Champlain sur la Promenade de la Gatineau, peu après que la promenade a été ouverte.  Arrivée près du Belvédère Huron, presqu’au sommet de la montagne, j’ai entendu un bruit de percussion très fort sur mon parebrise ou le toit de ma voiture.  Le son était fort et m’a effrayée, j’étais inquiète que mon parebrise fût brisé.  Par chance, il n’était pas endommagé.  L’objet a frappé très fort et semblait avoir voyagé à haute vitesse, comme s’il avait été lancé.  Ça semblait être un petit objet très dur, comme une petite roche ou un gland.  L’objet semblait venir de la forêt de l’autre côté de la promenade, venant d’une certaine hauteur.

 

Il n’y avait pas d’arbres directement au-dessus du chemin, il était pavé et je suivais un autre véhicule devant moi lentement (40-50 km/h)..  Le chemin était libre et il n’y avait pas de gravier qui aurait pu frapper ma voiture a une telle vitesse.
