In October 2003 the witness and his friends were running sprints in the dense woods of the Green Hill Provincial Park.  The witness was 15 years old at the time, his father Steven McKenzie was their coach.  They were training for the High School Cross Country Team.  His friends were Liam, Greg and Jeremy, his father took them to do hill training that day in the woods.

They drove down Green Hill Road and reached the east side of the hill.   They finished the steep run, the witness Miles was the fastest, then Liam, then Jeremy and then Greg.   They had time for a break so they had 30 minutes to go down the east side of the hill to a very wooded and steep area where there are pick nick tables.

Once down from the very steep escarpment the boys reached the road and noticed it was deafly silent.  It seemed eerie to the witness.  The group began making their way back up the hill where the witness’ father was waiting for them.  Greg was following 20 m behind the witness with the others between them.   It had been very quiet.  They were a third of the way up the hill when Greg from behind asked the group ‘did you heard that?’

They stopped and listened, and heard nothing.  As they turned to resume their climb, Greg again said ‘stop there is the noise again, it sounds like a baby crying’.   The group stopped again thinking maybe it was a rabbit caught in a snare.  Then they heard this loud roar, it was very loud.  The witness said it did not fit the description of a bear or feline.   The sound came from down the hill, behind Greg who was 20 m behind the witness.

The boys got scared and Liam jumped ahead of the witness, and they all fled.   As the group ran Greg also passed the witness because he was so scared.  As the group ran, Greg fell, and the group kept running, leaving him behind.  They made it to the top, and their father looked confused.  He had also heard the loud roar and thought someone was hurt.  Greg later arrived at the top, looking terrified.

The witness stated that the fact that his father thought one of them was hurt showed that the roar sounded partially human and could be mistaken for a person.  Apparently another group of older teens were in the area and the father thought it was maybe them screaming.  The other group appeared from a completely different trail and direction opposite from where they came from.

Greg, who was further behind and closest to the roar, was adamant that they were chased by something, however they never saw anything around.

The host then interviewed the witness’ father who heard the roar.  He is an experienced hunter familiar with animals and said the roar had a sharper pitch to it then a wolf or a coyote.  The father stated that he was concerned and had started down the hill and heard them talking and coming up.  He stated that the roar sounded like ‘something unnatural’ that he had never heard before.  It was not a sound a person could make.

**

The show host found an article in a now defunct newspaper (The Thorburn Post) from August of 1950 about an incident near the same area where this roar occurred.  Apparently, these incidents follow a cycle of 50 years.

Article goes as follows:

Marsh Monster in Pictou County, raiding chickens and stealing milk right from the cows.  Mrs. Irvin McKay, a resident on Marsh road outside of Thorburn in Nova Scotia, reported that there is something ‘evil out there, big, shadowy and scares the beejeebus out of me.’  A tour of the area revealed very large footprints, up to 15 inches in length and very heavy.

Mavis Merryweather told the reporter that the creature comes from the marsh at night and retreats before dawn.  The great beast carried her bow 3-4 nights ago and hasn’t been seen since.  It’s been scary out here alone, she said.  According to documents, the beast is seen for a year or two every 50 years.  The reporter states that it is best to leave such mysteries alone and hopes that no harm comes to those living nearby.

****

It's only 20 km between Green Hill Park and Marsh Road in Thorburn, according to the witness Miles; he was not aware of this article himself.

The host and the witness Miles agreed jokingly that Pictou County is the ‘Bigfoot Capital of Nova Scotia’.

Report #051 – NEW BRUNSWICK, Sagamook– Type 3

Report #051 – NEW BRUNSWICK, Sagamook– Type 3

Name: Maurice

Location: Mount Carleton Park, Sagamook, New-Brunswick

Date/Time: 2008

Weather Conditions:  Daytime, 3pm

Documented by Eastern Canada Sasquatch Organization

The witness named Maurice lives in Texas and came to New-Brunswick in 2008 to visit his daughter, son-in-law and two grandchildren.  After two weeks there, the witnesses’ son-in-law took their family to Mount Carleton Park for a pick nick.  At around 3 pm, the witnesses’ 8-year-old grandson kept saying that ‘there is a gorilla is the bushes’.  The child kept pointing to some tall bushes nearby, about 80 yards away from them.

The witness approached the tall bushes and when he was 6 yards away, something emerged from the brush – ‘it was a large furry man, walking perfectly on all fours’.   The creature’s skull was way bigger than the witness’ and his shoulders were extremely wide; ‘he had a bunch of apish features’.  The only thing human about the creature were his nose and ears.

The rest resembled an ape of some kind: the forehead, the wide mouth, the thick neck, the greyish silver body with chunks of brown, and the light grey skin.  The creature was standing on its fists, ‘not knuckles, fists.’  Yet, its back was straight, nothing like a gorilla, but ‘way bigger than a gorilla’.  The height on all fours, was six foot 4 inches tall.

The creature then stood up, and the witness described it as ‘a giant’ compared to the trees nearby.  He ran towards the pick nick area and yelled at his family to get inside the van.  They all got inside and began leaving the area.  The witness saw that the creature followed him and was just 20 yards from the van.  The witness said it had to be at least 12 feet tall because it was taller than some of the smaller trees.

The children in the back of the van saw the man-creature and screamed.  The entire family saw it.

RMSO responded stating that the creature was indeed very big, and it seemed that ‘the farther north you go, the bigger they get.’

Maurice responded back saying that he was driving looking forward, and his daughter later said that they were all screaming.  He was going at 30 mph, and the creature was following behind them on all fours, quickly but not running.  He followed them for about 2 minutes, then vanished.

The witness is a truck driver.

On September 5th, 2006 he was driving towards the town of Val d’Or in northern Quebec, he was driving northbound on hwy 117 and entered the Laurentide Park.  After an hour of driving, he was in a remote part of the park when he saw what seemed to be a bear come out on the road.

The witness stated that the creature seemed to be indecisive, it reached the centerline and stopped.  When the witness got close enough, he realized that this was a not a bear and was bipedal.   The witness noticed that the subject walked like a person with back problems, with a knee-high gait.

The biped’s head was sort of long, not round; he had dull black hair all over his body and head.  The creature ran off like a person ‘with a bad back problem’.   The truck driver feels that the creature was probably looking at him on the road, which explains why it stopped, seemingly hesitating on the road, before starting off across running.
